I said what size sockets does it take to change a 2.3 liter transmission in a 1994 Ford ranger xl 5 speed
My 67 has that bar on the front, that you said was for the rear brakes right under the wheel cylinder. Should I take it off? And I had a really stiff brake pedal. The pedal hardly moves, and the car does stop, but takes a very long distance to stop. Suggestions where to start trouble shooting???
I got a 3.5 gallon bucket from the orange big box store of evaporust. Use it extensively for cars (and jeeps) as well as the founts of coleman lanterns. Being up in the northeast rust comes with the territory. Love your videos, keep up the good work
I don’t understand why you care about how position since you’re not putting in the same headliner? I thought the variation was to help out with differences in headliners. 🤷♂️
You are the only one that shows where every part goes👍👍👍thanks
80-83 f100s have 5x4.5 bolt pattern already so not a disadvantage for a cv swap there.
I say if your ready for that adventure know the car .be a mechanic. Go for it .
7:05 the twin I beam is still used in 2wd f250 and f350 trucks and has been in use in the econoline van since 1975. Even the cab and chassis/ cutaway vans made in 2024 when this comment was made still use the twin I beam suspension.
Great video, guys! Thank you SO much! Now, off to swat the plug in my amc 343, lol! Really😅
Dude, you need to have the correct tools if you plan to show us how it's done!
Ron’s a good guy
Just wanted to say great work! Sending thoughts of abundance and health to you both. I love me some F100 catalog, old like my 66.
So sad to see those smaller shops going away.😊
Working on my 69 Torino, I get whatever I can from AutoKrafters. Didn’t know they were a family owned business, and that makes me want to support them even more. Nice video!
This guy is just a lot of talk he never shows how to actually use any of them. If he can't impress with is brilliance he will baffle you with BS
Hood aliment on 49 ford
Being a Caterpillar mechanic for 38 years has helped me, I have a 1963 fair lane sports coupe which I installed 1977 Granada spindles and all disc brake parts. Installed dual master cylinder, replummed it and put 1970 LTD tie rod joints. Everything works perfectly!
When I first got into the classic car hobby in 2001 with a 65 Comet Cyclone a bunch of us Comet guys got together to form Comet East. Ron was very supportive with gift certificates and other give aways for our events. I talked with him a few times at Ford Carlisle. I have visited their store in New Market several times. On one visit I was trailering my 63 Falcon Black Sprint hardtop heading to the Food Fair in Charlotte (Spring 2007). One of the staff was taking pictures of my car and I was flattered. In 2014 one of the photos taken was the cover car of Autocrafters Falcon Catalog. That catalog is framed and on the wall. In 2006 I was approached by Dearborn Classics to do some Falcon tech stuff and started buying from them, then they sold out to Ecklers. Mac's Ford parts called me to work with them and then they sold out to Ecklers. Unfortunately, Eckers was resold several times (investment bankers) and over time lost touch with the needs of their customers. It was nice to see Ron and hear his story. I highly recommend buying from family-owned businesses the understand the vehicles they sell parts for. You may pay a little more, but their staff understands what you want and what they sell. Getting the right part in a timely fashion and having it fit makes this hobby so much more fun. Thank you, Ron. Dick H.
Glad they are still in business. I haven't ordered anything for a few years due to a rude woman I encountered on a couple of occasions . I thought that if she didn't appreciate my business any more than that I would order from someone else. Maybe I'll give them another try next time I need something.
You can DEFINITELY see the difference in looks so i imagine it feels much faster and safer too BUT i think i wouldve welded the yellowish metal brackets right to the axle even gusseting one or both side, maybe even weld that ubolt on so none of it can shift loose or loosen /flex over time
What about the 352t engine?
Were yall able to keep the mechanical speedometer?
I used to stop by AutoKrafters back around 85-86 and many times after that. They had a neat little showroom with some of the parts the were offering at the time. And a bunch of old Ford car around back under roof, Galaxie's, Maverick's. Always enjoyed stopping in while we were at Virginia Mustang. I remember Broadway Ford sold weed eaters on the showroom floor along side the new Ford's. Good memories! I'm still buying parts from AutoKrafters to this day.
Jeff, glad your picking back up on the Falcon. I was able to find my fathers 64 HT after 17 years and bought it back in 2022. Many memories helping him on it. Enjoyed your story.
But what if you want parts for a non mustang ford?... What about starliners? Or an Edsel?.... Or have we forgetten that's it's still a Ford
Did I miss something?? Thought I watched this yesterday????😂
If you report somebody for selling car parts, just trying to make a living you are every bit of a piece of crap
Did I miss what you said to do with the field wire on the back of the alternator? Is it not used. Thanks
3 or 4 day stay in Va.
Brings back memories of the toll booth at DC on the way to Boston.
Someone who has owned a 302, 331,351 when I build my next one 351w stroker leaning 393ci and I will NEVER own a non-roller cam
I enjoy your videos but personally these repairs look like crap. I've seen other videos using the same technique using cheap vinyl repair kits that ended up with much better results.
If you use Gumout spray to check for vacuum leaks you won't have to clean if off the engine, Engine RPM will drop a lot if you spray Gumout on a vacuum leak. Might even do some cleaning itself, heh heh. Gumout doesn't burn anywhere near as well as gasoline. Remember those old carburetor cleaning kits from the 70's where you hang a bottle of gumout upside-down above the caruretor and run your engine on it? You had to really open the throttle up to keep the engine running on Gumout. Ahhhh...those were the days. : )
I like to see more of these every now than love history.
Thank you for this video. Great seeing the story of a family business who is keeping it going.
In my youth, living in SoCal, I always enjoyed the independent shops I worked with or, more so, hung around at with those owners dealing with “ us kids” hanging about for a few tips and to see what might roll in. One of my fondest memories was a radiator repair shop, a pretty simply place with scores of tanks and cores on the shelves with the sweet aroma of glycol in the air. As for online vs a catalog I’ll take the catalog, my dad use to receive several catalogs and, for myself, it was having the Sears Christmas wish book, thumbing thru to dream. And yes, anything I can do to support a family owned business gets my dime; I have a local hardware that yes, I pay more, but they know my name, treat me to to a cup of coffee & are part of our community
That stupid music is enough to stop me from watching you videos. Its so unnecessary.
So 180psi is good 👍? My hemi 5.7L is healthy 😊
I'm 40 so I'm not sure if I'm a young or old guy, but I love physical catalogs and repair manuals. Can the Internet be better? Absolutely, especially with UA-cam videos when pictures just don't help enough. Still, I'll always stick with my physical media whenever possible.
I’m getting my galaxie catalog today please don’t stop printing them anytime soon
Thank you for making this interview. This is great!
That's amazing! Is it a sedan or hard top! As a child of the early 50's that was something we learned before we were 10! I guess some people these days would have a fit over the hard top convertible! lol
Really enjoyed the interview. Thanks for another awesome video.
Great video. I don't think the stock cooling system on my 68 Falcon was even capable of keeping the engine cool on a warm day at idle for more than a few minutes. I don't think the car was designed to do it. The 4 core aluminum rad and electric fan I added were much needed.
Obviously, Jeff, you have never owned a Fiat 128 Spider. You always carry a spare electric fuel pump or two or five. Two of my friends had Fiat 128 Spiders, and they both ate fuel pumps.
I must have missed something about Fiat? I have almost owned ever Fiat 128 models. My favorite was my x19. I rolled a 128 4 door at high speeds and walked away. My oldest Fiat was 1959 1100 D. Never had a problem with them ever. My Alfa’s was a different story, always carried spare parts and a fire extinguisher. We lived in Italy and drove Fiats all over Europe. Note, my 500 l cost 45,000 lire (50.00 dollars) to rebuild the engine.
Had a 62 Galaxie XL Convert years ago and bought a few things from Auto Krafters. Buying online is great and all, but it's still fun to thumb through a catalog and make a list. Doesn't hurt your eyes to stare a catalog. Just saying. I wish they did do Mustang stuff. If Virginia Classic is family owned I'll start buying stuff from them too. NPD is still independently owned also. I'd much rather deal with a family/independent business vs corporate operations. Better experience all around 99% of the time. Just my opinion.
Hey Jeff. I have noticed after my 67 mustang sets for a while, it takes quiet a bit of cranking before it starts. After doing some homework, I have come to the conclusion that the fuel leaks off, and the bowls go dry. So......I seen some videos saying to install a check valve in the system. Your thoughts? Oh.....it's a complete stock 289, with the Autolite 2100, with a mechanical pump.
Thanks!
I have had good experiences with Auto Krafter working on my '65 F100
I consider myself one of the 'young guys' and I 100% prefer the catalog. I have my catalogs with my service manuals and it's rare I grab one without the other. Always love purchasing from family-owned American locations!
